Your data environment grows continuously.
restAssured grows alongside (if you wish).

Introduction

Data is growing at an insane pace. What many people don’t realize is that one of the biggest reasons for this growth is backup data. Organizations today face numerous and consistently changing backup challenges. As data grows and more data is needed to be stored and secured, companies today face numerous and evolving backup challenges. Just a few years ago, organizations were primarily concerned with data protection, encryption and automation. This has changed as of lately with the rapid growth of data growth which has had a dramatic effect on what organizations are demanding from their backup solutions. With these higher demands the risks also increase. To ensure backups are valid and usable in case of need extensive restore testing is needed. Performing such a restore test (with content integrity analysis) takes time, which is also the case when it is done with restAssured. The bigger the datasets, the more time is needed to perform all tests (and remediation attempts). To ensure the desired percentage of backups can be tested each day the restAssured solution can be expanded by adding additional Worker agents. The more Worker agents are present, the more backups can be tested simultaneously. While there are no real limits on how many Worker agents can be added to the restAssured environment, the backup backend environment may have limits on how many resources can be used for restore functionalities.

Worker agents

Workers agents are lightweight Windows and/or Linux services responsible for processing the test flowcharts against the backup data. A Worker agent is installed on an available Windows or Linux server. After installation the Worker agent will register itself at the central broker and dispatcher services. The whole process from installation to readiness of a Worker agent takes around 5 minutes. A Worker agent can perform tests against all supported content-types. It can be limited to test only specified content-types depending on the needs of the business. This way one can fine-tune the amount of tests per day for specific content-types.
